Red Bull Salzburg goes into the Champions League duel with OSC Lille with a positive record against French clubs (Wed., from 9 p.m. in LIVE ticker >>>). Before the first group duel with the French champions on Wednesday (9:00 pm / live on Sky and ServusTV), the “Bulls” hold on to four wins, one draw and three defeats against clubs from France.
The bitterest of these four victories was achieved at the last test of strength to date with a French representative. In the second leg of the 2018 Europa League semi-final against Olympique Marseille after a 2-0 away defeat in the first leg, a 2-1 home win after extra time was finally not enough to make it into the final.
The overall balance of the home club is clearly negative. Another victory would be the eleventh of an ÖFB club against a French team. At the most recent clash, Sturm Graz suffered a 1-0 defeat at AS Monaco in the EL group stage on September 16. There were also ten draws and 18 defeats. In so far 13 knockout duels, Austrian representatives have drawn the short straw ten times.
