Protest against sloop historic buildings Amsterdam Vondelparkbuurt
In the Van Eeghenstraat in the Vondelparkbuurt in Amsterdam South, a group of local residents protests against the sloop of buildings at numbers 70 -72. The owner wants to throw the villas aside for a new residential complex with underground parking.
Heemschut Heritage Association has asked the municipality to urgently grant the houses on the chic street along Vondelpark a monument status. And a faster local residents already a fire letter to the municipality to stop the already started sloop from the buildings.
Demolish, not build?
A few weeks ago the VVD, SP and the CDA of the municipality about the demolition and new construction plans. Alderman Marieke van Doorninck (Spatial Development) let in on Friday answer to those questions know that the sloop can continue as normal, because a sloop report was made in August.
An environmental permit is required for the new-build complex, or that will not be clear. Van Doorninck states that the application was “not fully” accepted by the municipality. However, the Spatial Quality Commission has already reached an “agreement subject to conditions” given.
Successful objection
An environmental permit was previously issued for three other buildings in the street. These would be merged, and an underground parking garage would also be built here. The residents objected to the municipality, and were proved right about a year and a half later.
