People in Blansko do not bathe. City Hall closed dilapidated swimming pool Company News Brněnská Drbna
People from Blansko will not swim for some time. The town hall closed the swimming pool, which is located in the area of the old spa. The reason is its poor technical condition. Swimmers will wait at least two years for swimming before a new spa is created, which will include not only swimming pools, but also wellness and fitness centers.
Until the last minute, city officials expect the indoor pool to reopen after the summer season. It was supposed to happen on Monday. But the condition of the building did not allow it in the end. Therefore, the people of Blansko will not swim in the foreseeable future. “On recommendation 2021, due to recurring problems with leaks, we had Reports on the construction technical survey of the steel roof structure prepared. In the summer months, the roof was secured against leaks, “ described by the executive of Služby Blansko Zdeněk Grünwald (ODS). However, the structural engineer found that the technical condition of the building was deteriorating. City officials therefore need to keep the pool closed.
The money is being used for a new spa
In addition, according to the town hall, it would not even pay for the city to operate the swimming pool in the dilapidated building of the old spa. “It turned out that it was necessary to replace the roof, the costs would cost five but maybe even ten million crowns and the spa would still be closed for at least five or six months. In this situation, it makes more sense to help us have a new swimming pool as soon as possible. ” explained the mayor of Blansko Jiří Crha (ODS).
The lower parts of the roof are particularly damaged, which means that they can only be carried out during current repairs, which have been carried out in the facilities since the summer holidays. In the current state, there is a risk that the structure will not withstand snow deposits. In addition, it would be necessary to invest not only in the reconstruction of the roof, but also sanitary facilities or wiring.
Blansko swimmers have to train elsewhere
Closing the pool is a problem especially for Blansko swimmers. The city management will therefore help them and want to compensate them for the operation. “We will proceed in the same way as before the holidays, when we subsidized swimmers for the difference in the years of renting swimming pools in the area or we helped to help with a secured season ticket to the aquapark,” said the deputy mayor of Blansko František Hasoň (KDU-ČSL).
The main goal of Blansko is now to speed up the construction of new spa buildings so that they can serve the water lover’s as soon as possible. If the project needs the necessary documents and also gets the green light from the authorities, the demolition of the buildings will start next year. The investment will cost almost 280 million crowns. Drbna has already informed about the project.
