On the run in Italy, the suspect brought the drugs to Moselle
After having arrested three people suspected of being involved in a drug importation chain, the gendarmes managed to find the head of the network, hidden in Sardinia. The man was handed over to French justice and placed in pre-trial detention.
He will pull the strings of his traffic away from French justice. The suspect was renting an apartment under a false name in Sardinia, after having regularly changed countries and with false documents to cover his tracks.
Suspected of being the sponsor of an important traffic supplying the Moselle with drugs from Belgium, he was arrested this month and handed over to the French authorities, then placed in pre-trial detention. He was the subject of a European arrest warrant.
He is the fourth implicated in this case. During their investigations started in August 2020, the gendarmes of the Metz research section and the Thionville research brigade had already demonstrated the existence of nearly twenty round trips between Belgium and the Moselle, trips made by the “little hands” of the network. It is also in flagrante delicto that two individuals were arrested in October 2020 when they are going to enter drugs in France. A third suspect was arrested in June 2020.
