Mayor of Prague 9: Prague Transport will ease the completion of circuits, a flat rate is nonsense iROZHLAS
From the beginning of September, Paris drivers can only drive around the city at speeds of up to 30 km / h. Is the decision of the Paris City Hall correct and would it also be beneficial for Prague transport? Pros and cons agree that similar measures should be taken carefully, locally and only on the basis of verified data.

“Prague is a very different situation. There is a discussion about the introduction of this speed in zones and residential areas, but certainly not on the main connecting roads, “says Jaromír Beránek (Pirates) in Pro and against the Prague representative and chairman of the IT Magistracy’s Smart City Committee.
In Paris, the maximum speed for drivers is 30 km / h. Should Prague be inspired to improve the traffic situation in the metropolis?
The mayor of Prague 9 and the representative of the City of Prague Tomáš Portlík (ODS) adds that some Parisians complain that it is not possible to drive through the city and secondly that the restrictions are not observed. “If we want to further divide Prague and its inhabitants, we can come up with similar ideas.”
“Paris is smaller and has a population density eight times higher than Prague,” Beránek confirmed. “Many drivers would like to be able to drive through the city center at a speed of 30 every hour. But the average speed of trams in the whole territory of Prague last year reached 19.5 km / h, buses are only slightly faster. “
At the age of 30, Prague is impassable
Portlík agrees that the capital is currently impassable at a speed of 30 km / h.
“We will reduce emissions mainly through clever measures within telematics and green waves, as well as through alternative routes, ie the outer and Prague ring roads. Entering lower speeds can be dangerous because pedestrians feel safe and drivers think they will slow it down. “
“Flat rate is complete nonsense,” the mayor believes. “It is legitimate to consider it in the areas where a pedestrian meets a car. It’s not just about speed, but also about section measurement. But it is ideal for drivers to accept the measure themselves. Because they have to save with them and they have to be done where they make sense from the point of view of safety. “

„Lidé jsou pohodlní, a my jim musíme usnadňovat jiné způsoby dopravy.
