Lithuania is ready for another leadership in the region

The head of state Gitanas Nausėda, wearing a mask, met with the Secretary-General of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Mathias Cormann, with whom he greeted him with a fist.
The head of state discussed with the Secretary-General of the OECD the importance of cooperation in the management of Lithuania’s achievements in the COVID-19 pandemic in pursuit of the economy, vaccination, structural reforms and environmental issues.
A. Nausėda emphasized that Lithuania has set ambitious goals in the implementation of the Green Agenda and wants the establishment and consensus of the society, state institutions, business and non-governmental sector on this issue.
“We have initiated and are currently considering a law in the Seimas, which would oblige the enacted legal acts to adopt environmental and climate aspects. This would significantly help to get the environment and ensure an interdisciplinary approach, ”says the head of the country.
He emphasized that “Lithuania is ready to strive for regional leadership in the field of environmental protection and is becoming an ambassador for green goals in the Eastern Partnership countries.”
The head of state also discussed issues of economic recovery after the pandemic with Mr Cormann.
G. Nausėda emphasized that the Lithuanian economic indicators currently look very good in the context of other countries.
At the same time, he looks at the need for the country’s economy to overheat and pursue sustainable and stable growth.
