Deputy Secretary Sherman’s trip to Switzerland, Uzbekistan, India and Pakistan
Deputy State Secretary Wendy R. Sherman travels to Geneva, Switzerland on September 29th to lead the joint US delegation to the bilateral strategic stability dialogue between the USA and Russia on September 30th. She IS assisted by Undersecretary for Arms Control and International Security Bonnie Jenkins. The last two delegations met in Geneva on July 28th. The strategic dialogue stems from President Biden’s and Russian President Putin’s Stability Commitment at their meeting in Geneva in June 2021 to a thoughtful and robust dialogue aimed at laying the foundation for future arms control and risk reduction measures. The new Secretary Sherman will also travel to Bern to open the first strategic partnership dialogue between the USA and Switzerland with the Swiss Foreign Minister Livia Liu.
She then travels to Tashkent, Uzbekistan, where she will meet high-ranking officials and civil society on October 4th. Deputy Minister Sherman will be in New Delhi, India on October 6 for a series of bilateral meetings, civil society events and India Ideas. Summit. On October 7th, she travels to Mumbai, India to learn about business and civil society. The final secretary, Sherman, WILL continue HER travel as she travels to Islamabad, Pakistan, October 7-8 to meet with senior officials.
