Alba is the first win of the season against Frankfurt
Berlin (dpa / bb) – After the surprising opening defeat against Bonn, Alba Berlin wants to make amends in the second home game of the basketball Bundesliga. On Tuesday, the Berliners will receive the Fraport Skyliners Frankfurt (7 p.m. / Magentasport). “In front of our fans, we definitely want to take our first win of the season,” announced youngster Malte Delow.
Coach Israel Gonzalez calls for an increase in performance. “We have to get better physically and not lose our rhythm against the Skyliners,” he said. Like Alba, the Hessians have lost their opening match and like Alba they are plagued by injury concerns. Delow therefore expects a “very hungry team that will go into the game with a lot of commitment”.
Those responsible for Alba-tig do not want to build up unnecessary pressure. “The big things will not change immediately, it WILL take time. And that is not a question for Tuesday,” said sporting director Himar Ojeda. Especially since the injury concerns remain. The centers Christ Koumadje, Johannes Thiemann and Kresimir Nikic are still canceled. “And that will take weeks,” said Ojeda. The Spaniard therefore warns: “We must continue to be patient.”
And yet the rhythm is very important for Berliners at the moment. “We have to play now. Even if we lose more games. We have to try to get in there,” said manager Marco Baldi. A sense of achievement is of fundamental importance for this. “You have to build up self-confidence, of course,” said Baldi.
