Xavier Sadourny (ASM) before Toulouse – Clermont this Sunday: “A revealing match”
It’s a great team. They are champions of France, champions of Europe. Toulouse has mastered its rugby for over a year. He also made a big start to the season. We’re going to play against a great team, a great club.
Are you surprised to see them performing so quickly in the season?
They have been in a positive dynamic for a while. They feed off the slightest mistake of their opponent with exceptional players. There are no surprises to be seen at this level. They are on what they master. It will be necessary to be hyper precise and hyper disciplined and hyper realistic: in short, to play a big game.

“For eighteen months they have mastered their subject and evolve in confidence”
Toulouse – Clermont: Marvin O’Connor (ASM), back to his first love
It has been seven years since ASM won there …
It is no wonder. We should not be the only ones in this case. Few teams manage to win at home. For eighteen months they have mastered their subject and evolve in confidence. Last season, during the doubloons period, everyone imagined they would be in trouble. On the contrary, They have created a group with young people and foreign players who play their role. It is a complete team in all lines.
“We feel a progression in recent weeks”
We will have to raise the cursor even more …
We have to focus on ourselves first. After a difficult start to the season, we are still having a good game. We sent a progression in recent weeks. We are going to play our luck bravely against an exceptional opponent.
Tani Vili (ASM Clermont), the Australian air made him feel good
Are the players easy to motivate against Toulouse?
We have to represent the jersey well every week in Toulouse, Brive or against Stade Français. But we know for a fact that if we do not respond to Toulouse, if we have air holes, we will quickly find ourselves in difficulty. You have the impression of having a good match but at the exit you take 40 like the last season in Toulon. If we are able in particular to be constant over 80 minutes, we can be able to do something. This is going to be revealing.
“Rugby remains a sport of spaces”
The weather conditions are forecast to be milder than last week. Will this influence your game plan?
The playing conditions (rain and wind) last week were special. We had to adapt and we were able to do it well. Even though there was more kicking play than usual, we were nevertheless able to keep the ball. The test by Tani (Vili) shows it because he arrives after five or six times of play. Sunday, if the conditions are good, there will be less kicking. But rugby remains a sport of spaces. And if the game calls for kicking, it will have to be done. Kicking remains a weapon even in good playing conditions.
Beheregaray (ASM Clermont), before Toulouse, this Sunday: “Big customers in front”
After a long streak with Franck (Azéma), has Jono’s arrival changed anything for you?
They have different modes of operation. They are passionate, each with their rugby education. It’s up to us, the assistants, to adapt to their methods. I had worked with Jono for four and we were still close. It’s going very well with Franck and it’s going very well with Jono too.
What first assessment do you draw from the new rules and in particular the 50-22 or the kick off on the test line?
There is not yet much development except when we have to defend in the opposing camp, especially from the scrums. But these last matches, few scrums could be played in these conditions and it is difficult to realize. These are rules that are made to create play and take risks. It is very good. It’s not something that you work on a lot. But on the video study but not especially in the field.
And on the return in the in-goal?
You have to try to play faster.
