Prague – A new book, Coat and Handbag, is about an unconventional romance from Prague during a state of emergency. She was introduced to the Book World festival by the author of the story Marka Míková and illustrator Galina Miklínová. According to the creators, the book is not only aimed at children, but can entertain all generations. Míková also read several examples.
There are mainly things in the story, people appear there marginally. The main characters are a coat and a pink handbag, between which “a spark jumps”. However, he has to deal with various difficulties. According to Mík’s coat, for example, he experiences an inconvenience in a restaurant, a handbag gets stuck in one lady’s net and it is definitely not her last jam.
Míková said today that the idea for the book was born from the moment she traveled by bus, she turned around and felt that a coat was “sitting behind her”. This amused her very much and she began to write notes on notebooks. Later, she met Miklínová in Piešťany and began cooperation. Miklínová said that she enjoyed immersing herself in drawing Prague. The illustrator also pointed out that the story has a lot of hope.
The writer also noted that writing about personalized things was in a way a challenge. It was only gradually that she realized that she could not use certain words and that things, for example, did not blink.
Míková already has a number of books for children on her account – she won the Golden Ribbon award for the titles JO537 and Škvíra. The creator, born Marie Horáková, studied puppetry and directing at the Prague DAMU. He plays theater, plays and sings in the group Zuby Nehty. He is also one of the core members of the Puppets in Hospital group, which visits the children’s ward in hospitals and clinics. The group works in the field of drama therapy and develops a range of activities in the field of psychosocial care.
Miklínová is an illustrator, artist, film director and screenwriter. She worked with the poet Pavel Šrut on popular books about Lichožrouty, she also directed a film based on these titles. However, Miklínová also collaborated with Alena Mornštajnová, Eva Papoušková and other authors. He is also behind the successful evening show O Kanafáskovi.
