Head of the Consultative and Diagnostic Center, a neurologist at the Bauman Hospital of the Moscow Department of Health, Tatyana Von, has listed those that can cause migraines. About this she told radio “Moscow speaking”.
According to her, these include chocolate, coffee, citrus fruits, and alcohol. In addition, lack of sleep, weather, and hunger can also trigger headaches.
The doctor noted that a migraine attack usually lasts from four hours to three days and may be accompanied by nausea, vomiting, and photophobia. She also recommended seeking the advice of a specialist for any prolonged headache.
Earlier, nutritionist, doctor of medical sciences Mikhail Ginzburg said that spicy food, in particular, pepper, can cope with a migraine-like headache. His colleague Sergei Agapkin clarified that such food usually helps if a person suffers from an occipital migraine or headache with trigeminal neuralgia. “It has been known for a long time that classic painkillers are poorly used for such pains, but such hot spices as pepper, garlic, ginger, just perform a pronounced analgesic effect,” the expert said.
