A new step in the acquisition by the City of Brossard of the land of the former Metro grocery store at boul. Milan was crossed during the city council assembly on September 14. Elected officials approved the deed of sale between the City and Investments 6445 Milan Ltée, in the amount of $ 7.8 million.
The council had authorized the acquisition of the land and the building by the municipality on July 6.
Abandoned for many years, the site does not look like much. The real estate project that Les Investissements 6445 Milan wanted to build there a few years ago collapsed, faced with opposition from citizens of the sector.
“Since 2009, when I was a municipal councilor, we had heard about the issue,” said Mayor Doreen Assaad on September 14. To be able to say today that the board has accepted the acquisition, I think it’s great. ”
The City plans to use the land at boul. Milan to set up new infrastructures there that will serve residents and ensure that the latter will be consulted in due course on the desired use of this space.
“What a great project for the elected officials of the next Brossard municipal council to be able to decide on the future of this building !,” said the mayor. It’s going to be a great project for the City. ”
“A new future is emerging for this land and it will be up to the next council to be able to address it,” added the sector councilor, Michel Gervais. I am convinced that it will be to the satisfaction of the people and to the satisfaction of the City. ”
