MAN OF THE MATCH: SOFIANE DIOP (7): Not in the starting 11, he had a revenge to take and when Niko Kovac called on him, he more than answered present. He literally changed everything in the Monegasque game even more cutting edge with the pale copy of a ghostly Golovin before being replaced. His acceleration and constant pressing in his zone have restored consistency to his team’s play, and he remains involved on the second goal and will score Monaco’s third goal, with a sumptuous heel. A very successful match for the former Rennais.
Clermont Foot (4-5-1)
Desmas (4): Completely erased by Ben Yedder who scores in an armchair, a crate on the heel of Diop, not an ideal afternoon for the Clermont porter.
Zedadaka (5) : A frank commitment to underline but a certain naivety in defense where he is involved on at least two goals.
Houtoundji (5) : Too feverish in the first half, characterized by his missed intervention on the but of Volland.
Ogier (5): Often late, it is wrong not to intervene on Ben Yedder for the first Monegasque goal. But he reads the game well and his grumpy appearance remobilizes the troops.
Nsimba (5.5): A decisive passer on Bayo’s goal, he did a lot of work on his side in defense, but his techniques often ruined everything.
Abdul Samed (5): With Fofana in his area he had a hell of a client. And yet he held the dragee high in the middle opposite especially during the high point of ASSE. He lost influence over the second half.
Gastien (6): A solid part. Pressing and harassing, high recovery, he was one of the team’s main barkers, constantly relocating his troops and being the first launch pad.
Backrest (5): Spinning early in the match, he spared no effort. Author of beautiful courses in depth. He only missed the finish. Replaced by Khaoui (66th).
Berthomier (6): A big start in particular with the superb pass which launches Nsimba. Great animator of the Clermont game, he died over the course of the match. Replaced by Hamel (66th).
Rashani (4.5): He did not shine in this meeting and seems to be marking time since his excellent start to the season. Replaced by Allevinah (78th).
Bayo (6): Speed, technique in motion and provocation with the ball at the foot, rewarded with a but all in power and instinct of true number 9. But he lacked realism and must finish on a triple.
AS Monaco (3-4-3)
Nubel (5.5): Still powerless and too wait-and-see on the opening of the Clermont score, he finally released a high class parade on a Dossou missile.
Caio Henrique (7): After a rather bad previous match against Saint-Etienne, he largely corrected the shot with two assists in the key today.
Sidibé (7): He almost cost his club a penalty, guilty of a foul on Bertholmier. Often at the limit, he still leaves a big defensive performance.
Maripan (5.5): The repetition of the matches between league 1 and the qualifiers of the Amsud zone is starting to be felt. He is less serene and fishes physically. A nice deep pass for Caio. on the corn of Volland.
Pavlovic (4): he shows a lot of desire but his slowness in his first steps is a real handicap. Too often caught up in speed.
Fofana (3) : He completely missed his game. Insecure passes, dangerous ball losses, poor placement. Unrecognizable. Substitution of Kovac’s sanction, annoyed, by Matazo only at 36th !
Chouameni (6) : Physically blunt, he had little impact on the game. Simple balls abnormally lost him who usually recovers with a shovel.
Gelson (6.5): Very restless, he tried a lot in particular on two big strikes outside the frame Replaced by Boadu (61th) decisive passer.
Ben Yedder (6.5): He’s definitely back as a scorer in Monaco’s last three games. Replaced by Badiashile (84th).
Volland (5.5): Not much positive for the German who did not weigh on the match, but he was there to score the second goal. Replaced by Aguilar (89th).
