Yes, you read that right.

The case is being updated.

Billionaire Ivar Tollefsen buys homes for 92 billion kroner, according to a stock exchange announcement on Sunday night.

Yes, you read that right, billion. Tollefsen’s company Heimstaden buys the homes of the company Akerlius in Sweden, Denmark and Germany for 92.5 billion Swedish kroner, or 91.6 billion Norwegian kroner, in what is one of the largest home purchases in Scandinavian history.

599 buildings

In total, there are 599 buildings with a total of 28,776 homes in Berlin, Hamburg, Stockholm, Malmö and Copenhagen.

– We are pleased to announce this acquisition across five thriving and attractive European cities with rich cultural heritage, strong economic growth and committed residents, says Patrick Hall, head of Heimstaden Bostad, in a statement.

With this, Heimstaden will be 50 percent larger in value. The housing giant already had a portfolio of 116,083 rental units per second quarter of 2021, worth SEK 187 billion.

Bigger in Berlin

Half of Akelius’ homes are in Berlin, which means that the company can multiply its presence there, from around 4,000 homes today.

Tollefsen is also one of Norway’s richest men, with a personal form of 38.5 billion kroner, according to Capital. It is quite possible that the number will be higher in the future.

The agreement is otherwise subject to approval by competition authorities.
