The exit polls and the first official results of the German elections were watched from the garden of the German embassy in Athens, in the presence of guests from the political world, the German ambassador to Greece Ernst Reichel.
During the election night, which began with the closing of the ballot box in Germany and the announcement of the exit polls, the German ambassador said: “It was an exciting election night. We have never seen such an election night in Germany in which the result is so close. It is too early to say what kind of government will be formed. It is very difficult to predict which party will be first. “I expect that there will be a period during which the parties will investigate which co-operation government will be formed.”
The election night was attended by the Minister of Health Thanos Plevris, the Deputy Ministers of Development Nikos Papathanasis, the Minister of Finance Theodoros Skylakakis, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Costas Frangogiannis, the Minister of Immigration and Asylum, Sofia Voulpanos institutions and the Hellenic-German Chamber of Commerce, academics, journalists and scholarship holders of the German parliament’s exchange program.
