Of the GAK won the duel between two former champions in the second division. The Graz team defeated at home on Sunday Wacker Innsbruck after 0: 1 deficit with 3: 1 and are seventh in the table only one point behind the Tyroleans. Innsbruck took an early lead after a counterattack following a GAK corner by Okan Aydin (7th). A mistake by goalkeeper Marco Knaller, who fielded the ball after a free kick, made it possible for Marco Gantschnig to equalize in the 28th minute.
After the break, Innsbruck’s Atsushi Zaizen only hit the bar with his head (56th), before the Styrians secured three points at the finish. First Gantschnig used a penalty to make it 2-1 (73rd), Mamadou Sangare fixed the final score (79th). For the Styrian aspirant of promotion it was the fourth success in the ninth game, with 14 points the team of Gernot Plassnegger is in the middle of the table and is already ten points behind the first Austria Lustenau.
Young violets conquer Lafnitz
In Vienna Lafnitz celebrated a 1-0 victory against the Young Violets of Austria. Mario Kröpfl scored the decisive goal with a penalty (31st) for the Styrians, who moved up to third. On the day the Floridsdorfer AC and Rapid II parted with a goalless draw.
