According to official data, in 2020, 81 thousand organized tourists and excursionists from 95 countries of the world visited Belarus. In 2019, 405.5 thousand tourists and excursionists visited Belarus.
However, if the duration of stay of foreign tourists in Belarus in 2019 was 4 days, then in 2020 – 6 days.
In 2020, the number of Belarusian tourists vacationing abroad decreased by almost 4 times.
In 2019, the number of organized tourists and excursionists who went abroad amounted to 982.9 thousand people. 21.3% went to the CIS countries in an organized manner, to the EU countries – 25.5%, other countries of the world – 53.2%.
The year before last, the most popular foreign countries were Egypt, Turkey, Ukraine, the Russian Federation, Bulgaria, Spain, Greece, Poland, Tunisia, Lithuania, Montenegro and Georgia. These countries accounted for 85.5% of the total number of organized tourists and excursionists who went abroad.
In 2020, 258.6 thousand Belarusian tourists and excursionists went abroad. Russia dropped out of the top destinations. The most efficient countries were Egypt, Turkey, Ukraine, Poland, Montenegro, Albania.
At the same time, the number of tourists and sightseers who used the services of tourist organizations was almost three times surprised. According to Belstat, in 2020 911.1 thousand people resorted to this. In 2019, 2,495.3 thousand organized tourists and excursionists used the services of travel agencies, including 1,213.5 thousand tourists and 1,281.8 thousand excursionists.
Domestic tourism in the pandemic year has almost halved. In 2019, 1106.9 organized tourists and excursionists inside Belarus were recorded, then in 2020 there were more than 570 thousand citizens.
There are fewer sanatoriums in Belarus. If in 2019 there were 492 sanatorium, health-improving organizations and other specialized accommodation facilities, then in 2020 there are 483 of them.
