Covid-19 in Portugal: two deaths and 599 new cases. There are 543 more recoveries | Coronavirus
Portugal recorded, this Saturday, two deaths by covid-19 and 599 cases of infection, according to the epidemiological bulletin of the Directorate-General for Health (DGS) released this Sunday. The total number of mortals thus rises to 17,954 and that of infected rises to 1,017,456. There are a further 543 patients recovered, out of a total of 1,017,456 recoveries since the start of the pandemic.
The situation report indicates that there are 415 people hospitalized, seven more than the day before, with 83 in intensive care (the same number as on Friday).
Most cases were registered in Lisbon and Vale do Tejo (219 new cases or 36.5%) and then in the North (208 new cases or 34.7%). Lisbon and Tagus Valley it is the region with the highest number of accumulated cases and deaths in the country: there are 412,710 confirmed cases and 7670 deaths (plus one). O North is the second: there are 409,571 records of infection and 5521 deaths by covid-19 – zero in 24 hours. O center counts 142,526 connections (79 new) and 3141 deaths (one in 24 hours). O Alentejo totals 38,687 cases (five new) and 1022 deaths (none in 24 hours). Not Algarve, there are 42,445 cases of infection (over 61) and 458 deaths (none in 24 hours). AN wood registers 12,205 cases of infection (18 new) and 72 deaths. already the Azores they add up to 8801 cases (nine more) and 42 deaths.
There are over 54 active cases, which means that 31,535 Portuguese are still dealing with the disease. There are now 307 fewer contacts under surveillance by health authorities, out of a total of 28,297.
Data from the DGS report indicate that, of the total number of registered deaths, 9414 are men and 8540 are women. Of the 17,954 people who died up to the date of covid-19 in Portugal, 11,710 were over 80 years old, which corresponds to 65.2%. Of the two deaths recorded this Saturday, one was registered in a person over 80 years old and another in a person between 70 and 79 years old.
