All-Russian triathlon competitions were held on Russky Island
The Governor of the Primorsky Territory Oleg Kozhemyako on Sunday, September 26, greeted the participants of the All-Russian triathlon competition, which took place on Russky Island, and he himself covered the Olympic distance – more than 50 kilometers by swimming, cycling and running. DV-ROSS reported this to the press service of the Primorsky Territory government.
According to the organizers, 78 athletes from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Rostov Region, Krasnoyarsk, Khabarovsk and Primorsky Territories took part in the competition. They performed at several distances: Olympic (1500 meters – swimming, 40 kilometers – cycling, 10 kilometers – running), Olympic-pro (for professional athletes), sprint (750 meters – swimming, 20 kilometers – cycling, 5 kilometers – running) … and super-sprint (300 meters swimming, 8 kilometers cycling, 2 kilometers running).
Also, within the framework of the event, there were competitions in children’s duathlon (running – 2 kilometers, cycling – 8 kilometers, running – 2 kilometers).
Opening the competition, the governor assesses, but a promising sport that has every chance of becoming popular among the residents of the region.
“I believe that the triathlon will take root in Primorye, because there are all conditions for it – the beautiful sea, jogging and cycling paths. And we are doing everything to make this sport one of the most beloved and popular here, ”Oleg Kozhemyako said.
It is 20 kilometers of road. The entire road is going to be completed in three years.
The victory at the most prestigious distance – the Olympic-pro – was won by the Honored Master of Russia, bronze medalist of the 2012 Triathlon World Championship, four-time European Championship medalist, four-time participant in the Olympic Games Dmitry Polyansky.
During the ceremony of awarding the prize-winners of the competition, Oleg Kozhemyako presented a letter of thanks to the first champion of the Primorsky Territory, Alexander Andreev, won this title in 1987.
“Our task is to attract as many people as possible to this sport, because it is available to everyone. At the first stage, swimming ”, – summed up the governor.
