Toulouse: let’s go for the Saint-Michel funfair
The Saint-Michel funfair has resumed service for a new edition until October 17. Installed for the last time in the Zénith car park, it hopes for a next edition in 2022 on another site. The situation is being studied by the City and a delegation of fairgrounds.
“It’s a happy recovery but also very quickly, admits Frédéric Tournié, secretary of the Fête Saint-Michel committee. With the City’s decision a few days ago, the preparation was carried out on the hat of wheels, both for the fairgrounds and for the service of the right of place. But we are still delighted both economically and psychologically ”.
After months of procrastination, the funfair is back this weekend in the Zénith parking lot until October 17. While strolling yesterday, we felt relieved exhibitors, enthusiastic to resume their activity and already meet some visitors: like Yona and Lola, 16 years old. “We arrive in Toulouse and we discovered this festival from the tram. We wanted to see and we like it. It changes social networks and selfies ”. Further on, Michèle, a native of Lille, is a fun fair lover: “In the North, it’s a tradition written in our DNA. This has a wide variety of stands for all audiences and all budgets. That’s a good point “.
Fairgrounds threw in the towel
No less than 110 events at this fun fair and some new features including thrill rides and parades for children. In connection with the pandemic, around 10% of exhibitors have abandoned their activity to turn to other sectors (pruning, ironwork, driver, etc.). “We want to remain optimistic,” assures Stéphane Dufief, secretary general of the fairgrounds of France. The weather is good and the public will be there this weekend. This is our last year at the Zénith. We hope to continue elsewhere. In agreement with the town hall, a working group was set up with a delegation of fairgrounds. The St-Michel celebration still has things to express and to offer to the public ”.
Health pass and mask compulsory. The Saint-Michel funfair takes place from vFriday September 24 to Sunday October 17, 2021 in the parking lot of the Zénith avenue Raymond-Badiou. Tram access, Hippodrome or Zénith stop.
