the video installation for the 1600th anniversary of the city
Venice it is not just a city but a symbol: no place has been told, painted, photographed, filmed as much as Venice. And each citizen has collected a series of superimposed images in their memory of superimposed images of this city on the other.
How Venice was born 3021
The project was born from this assumption Venice 3021, a tribute to the 1600 years of the lagoon city. It is a video installation created through a corpus of over 1000 images including paintings, photographs and film clips, made available to theCa’Foscari University, which the multidisciplinary team of Vitruvius Virtual Reality has collected and harmonized in one great visionary work, which shows the city as it was, as it is and as it will be.
The central scene of the video is a view of the Grand Canal painted by Bernardo Bellotto, but with elements that propel the viewer forward a thousand years between skyscrapers and steel gondolas that fly to the surface of the water. The view of Venice from above is the background to the thoughts of the characters who animate the work, each with his own vision of the city.
The screening at Art Night Venice
