Th. Plevris: Greece may soon enter monoclonal antibodies
The Dental Federation will determine which medical procedures will need rapid testing, said today the Minister of Health, Thanos Plevris.
Mr. Plevris stated that: “the issue with the dentists was resolved. What initially emerged from the ministerial decision was for both the vaccinated and the unvaccinated to undergo rapid testing. Some discussion with the Commission and said those who go to the doctor’s office do not need a quick test neither the attendant nor the patient, but there was a gap with the aerosols. The day before yesterday, in the Commission, he asked to be the representative of the dentists and we came up with a solution that covers all sides. The Federation of Dentists itself will determine in which medical procedures that are particularly dangerous that need a quick test. For all other operations, the vaccinated person will be able to go to the dentist without a test“, he stated characteristically.
Treatment with monoclonal antibodies
About the treatment of monoclonal antibodies, Mr. Plevris noted speaking on SKAI TV that there were some encouraging studies after the completion of the third phase of clinical trials and Greece will soon be able to import themHowever, the Commission will decide in which cases they will be granted and their costs will be fully covered by the stateThe
“Already, since February 2021, Greece participates in the EU program for monoclonal antibodies and monitors developments. There were some encouraging studies in August, because the third phase of the tests was completed, although they have not yet been approved. “In some categories they can be granted, if they have positive developments”, the minister explained.
«The production of monoclonal antibodies is very small and we will download in the bill that comes next week a provision so that the country can introduce and the Commission with strict criteria and protocols will judge which cases are addressed. However, as I have informed, these drugs are administered in the first phase and not when the patient is intubated and the categories that can be used are very specific and will be fully covered by the state. The element is not the financial ability of everyone, but whether they should or should not take them “.
Commenting on the epidemiological situation in Northern Greece, he clarified that there is no question of lockdown, while urging citizens to be vaccinated noting that in the ICU 90% of patients are unvaccinated.
