San Marino mourns the death of Li Yujun
“The Confucius Institute of San Marino, in the person of the local director, the President and the collaborators, announces with deep sadness the sudden death of its Chinese director Li Yujun (李 予 军) which took place on the night of last September 24”.
The announcement is made byConfucius Institute of San Marino. “Prof. Yujun was at the helm of the Confucius Institute since September 2020.
Li Yujun had a master’s degree in English and a doctorate from Higher Education, USTB. He was Professor of English at Beijing City University’s School of International Culture and Communication, Dean of the English Department and Senior Visiting Scholar at the University of Leeds School of Education.
His research areas covered applied linguistics, intercultural communication, translation, higher education. He had published numerous books and more than 30 academic articles devoted to teaching communication.
Prof. Li not only studied how to improve communication between people but every day he tried to put it into practice.
He had the sensitivity, empathy and curiosity to get to know others deeply.
He loved to repeat that ‘each woman or each man carries within him’ a culture that should be discovered ‘.
We remember his enthusiasm for our small state of San Marino, happy to have proudly celebrated the 50th anniversary celebrations of relations between San Marino and China, proud to have received their Excellencies the Captains Regent at the Confucius Institute of Montegiardino and have a photo with the most important authorities of San Marino.
The message that Prof. Li left us is to listen to the voice of others, to know their history, to learn their language to live in harmony and peace with everyone, respecting life.
