It was the expected difficult away game for Red Boots Aarau against Servette FC Chênois Féminin. Right from the start, the Geneva women, who are playing in the Champions League this year, the Aarau women are under pressure. The FCA women rarely succeeded in providing relief proactively.

The 0-0 break was correspondingly happy for the promoted team. The Geneva women repeatedly managed to get behind the defense of the FCA, especially through the two wings. Only in front of the goal did the women of Servette FC sin again and again. The closest to the opening goal came Elodie Nakkach shortly before the break whistle. Standing free in front of FCA goalie Seraina Friedli, however, the midfielder saw and shot over the housing from 10 meters.

«A huge compliment to my team. We held up really well against an incredibly strong opponent. My team showed a lot of solidarity, “said Selver Hodzic after the game and added:” Of course Servette had a few chances, but we also got our opportunities towards the end of the first half. “

Red Boots come out of the cabin improved

For a long time, the second round was much more even. This was mainly due to the increase in performance of the Red Boots, which came out of the cabin much more fighting. Coach Hodzic seems to have found the right words during the break. “I told the players that they shouldn’t be too nervous and try to move forward themselves,” said the coach.

His players then implemented this and were able to switch quickly after winning the ball a few times. In the opposing half, however, the necessary precision is lacking to create opportunities. “The opponent defended very well at the back,” Hodzic said.

The difference in quality is too high

After a good hour, however, the Geneva women passed the game dictation. As a result, the Aarau women were only rarely able to free themselves from their grip and one attack after another rolled towards the FCA defense. Again and again Servette came with crosses from the half field to dangerous finishes, only the insufficient exploitation of chances prevented a preliminary decision.

Until the 72nd minute. Again Jade Boha Sayo was exemplary staged with a flank from the right. And this time the offensive player kept a cool head and used the pass with a head to lead 1-0.

Aarau runs up and Servette counters

As a result, the Red Boots tried in vain to score the equalizer. With the current season, the Aarauerinnen takes more and more risk, which led to gaps on the defensive. Again and again, the women from Geneva were able to set needle sticks with counterattacks without bringing about the decision. “We risked more and more towards the end. Of course, that also gives the opponent space, ”says Hodzic.

In stoppage time, Servette played a counterattack to the end. After Seraina Friedli was able to save a degree, she had no chance when Thais Hurni shot up.

So in the end a 2-0 defeat, which also corresponded to the proportion of the game over the entire 90 minutes. Coach Selver Hodzic’s team is waiting for their first win in the Axa Women’s Super League after four games. The Red Boots will have the next chance for full success in the home game against the Grashoppers next Sunday.
