One hundred and fifty programs are offered by Budapest Design Week

One hundred and fifty programs are offered to those interested by Budapest Design Week (BDW), they will be held from October 8 to 17 at the Société Budapest event center in the 5th district, -t.

The central theme of the 18th BDW will be New Standards: the focus of events will be on the new normal after a pandemic, in which form designers will have a decisive role to play in decision-making, the communication said. , and events organized by external partners and hosted by Budapest Design Week.

The opening exhibition of the series of events is entitled New Standards and presents the work of a designer under the age of 30 and 30 at the Société in Budapest.

The series of talks related to the exhibition revolves around the future of the automotive industry, the change of leisure time, the issue of augmented reality, all of them in the aspect of design. The Hungarian Design Awards and the Design Management Award will be presented on the opening night of Budapest Design Week. The exhibition, which showcases the winners and the most outstanding applicants, will also be open to the public until the end of the festival.

This year, the Hungarian Design Council and its strategic partner Fabunio (Hungarian Wood and Furniture Industry Association) will apply for a complex professional program. The events revolve around the type of design approach to the lives of individual creators and businesses, the results of applying for awards, and the experiences and challenges of collaboration between manufacturers and designers. As part of the program, Fabunio will also organize a factory visit that will give those interested a glimpse behind the scenes of the furniture industry.

Joining the initiative of the European Union, as a member of BEDA (The Bureau of European Design Association), the Hungarian Design Council and its partners will organize a New European Bauhaus workshop on October 12. The program is implemented with students participating in MA training – 3-3 students per higher education institution.

During the BDW, they will also make a series of multi-day, interactive, online lectures that can be linked to the popular design publication of the Hungarian Design Council, the Start Up Guide. On October 12, the focus will be on how to make stores crisis-proof, forms of financing, and tracking market changes, and on October 13, the concept and importance of customer experience, the benefits of a remarketing tool, and system thinking will be the main topics. The lectures will be followed by discussions, and the program will later be revocable on the Start Up Guide Live and BDW interfaces.

The Moholy-Nagy University of Arts (MOME), in cooperation with the BDW staff, is organizing the first symposium and exhibition of the Social Design Network, which will start with an exhibition opening on 13 October and a professional professional symposium on 14 October.

The Open Studios can currently be viewed – and in view of the pandemic situation, in accordance with the current safety regulations – with offline and online programs, who want to get into the workshop of Hungarian designers and design studios at any time. The 18 participating workshops offer a variety of presentations and workshops for those interested.

As a strategic partner of BDW, the Hungarian Fashion & Design Agency focuses on organizing 360 design exhibitions. The exhibition gives dozens of Hungarian designers the opportunity to introduce themselves at the Whale. The event will also showcase talent from V4 countries, as well as roundtable discussions.

The new Budapest Design Map, the most comprehensive guide to design life in the capital, will also be published on the occasion of BDW.
