Mario Huber: “We want to finally win in front of our fans”

The EC Red Bull Salzburg will play their next home game against iClinic tomorrow, Sunday, in the bet-at-home ICE Hockey League Bratislava Capitals (4:30 p.m.). Only yesterday at home to the Dornbirn Bulldogs beaten 5-6, but there are opportunities to decide the party differently.
The chances of winning yesterday’s game against Dornbirn were there. Even the way the Red Bulls played did not suggest that the guests from Vorarlberg had a lead of four goals in the meantime. In the end, the Salzburg team almost equalized, but the final offensive, which was also crowned with goals, came too late to force at least an extension.
“Overall, the performance was not sufficient,” said striker Mario Huber after the game. “We carelessly missed chances and then gave up the game completely. Fortunately, we will continue tomorrow with the next home game, in which we want to eliminate yesterday’s mistakes. And finally win a victory in front of our fans. “
Head coach Matt McIlvane also mourned the missed opportunities: “We didn’t play smart enough. A few mistakes also made it easier for the opponent. In the end we saw that we can score goals, but we have to do it that way from the start. ”
Tomorrow the iClinic Bratislava Capitals will make a guest appearance in Salzburg. No team in the ICE Hockey League saw more changes in the squad than those from the Slovak capital. With 22 newcomers and 16 departures, a completely new team is quickly at the start in Bratislava. The German head coach Peter Draisaitl took over the team last season in December 2020 and was able to build his own team over the summer, which currently consists of 16 Slovaks and eleven players from other nations (including six Canadians and two US Americans ) composed.
And the new formation has been convincing in full so far. The Slovak documents started at home against Pustertal, but then won all three games against Dornbirn, Innsbruck and yesterday in Overtime in Graz, which puts them in second place in the table.
The Red Bulls have been warned, but after two home defeats they want to fix their first ICE Hockey League success tomorrow in front of their own audience. Head coach Matt McIlvane has the same squad available as yesterday, only the convalescent JP Lamoureux and Danjo Leonhardt are missing.
