l’« Aldébaran », navire remorqueur de sonar, se visite au port jusqu’à dimanche soir
The French Navy ship, which carried out a rescue at sea earlier this week in the Atlantic, can be visited this weekend in the Port de la Lune
The sonar towing vessel “Aldébaran” is on a stopover in Bordeaux until Thursday September 30 but can only be visited this weekend: today and tomorrow, from 2 to 6 pm. He arrived Friday September 24 in the Port of the Moon to be moored there at the pontoon of honor. During the week, he carried out a rescue at sea in the harbor of Brest. Being the closest vessel to issuing a call for help, it diverted to assist the crew of a speedboat.
The mission of the “Aldebaran” is the hunting of underwater mines and the surveillance of the seabed up to 80 meters. The BRS are integrated within the Naval Action Force in mine warfare units and include DUBM44 sonar which allows mines to be detected and obstacles to be perceived, allowing them to work safely near the bottom (from 5 30 meters).
With the school
This weekend, the 21 crew members will offer the public an immersion to discover the many missions of this vessel in maritime protection. An agreement with the Defense and Global Security Class (CDSG) with the Clos-Chassaing high school in Périgueux will be signed.
