US Deputy Secretary of State Victoria Nuland may receive a visa to enter Russia in the near future, writes Kommersant with reference to an informed source.
According to a source in Russian government agencies, the politician can fly to Moscow in October. With this, the Russian side, intending to allow Nuland in the Russian Federation, insists on reciprocity. For example, Moscow requires Washington to issue a visa to Konstantin Vorontsov, a specialist in the Department of Nonproliferation and Arms Control of the Russian Foreign Ministry, who has been unable to obtain approval to enter the United States since the fall of 2019.
In September of that year, the United States refused to extradite 13 Russian diplomatic representatives and parliamentarians who had accompanied UN Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on a trip to New York at a high-level session of the General Assembly, as well as eight Russian diplomatic representatives who planned to participate in the work of the First Committee. In addition, several Russian diplomats, representatives of the Ministry of Defense and Roskosmos have not received visas.
In response to the US imposition of visa and financial sanctions against officials, Russia created a blacklist. Victoria Nuland also entered there.
The American politician is expected to meet in Russia with the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Russian President Dmitry Kozak. The main topic will be Ukraine.
Formerly Russian Ambassador to the States Anatoly Antonov declaredthat the Nuland visa has not been issued yet. At the same time, he began to deny the fact of loss.
