ICE: Vienna Capitals celebrate their first win of the season against Innsbruck – winter sports – ice hockey
Vienna – Saturday, 25.09.2021, 9:29 p.m.
The Vienna Capitals celebrate their first win of the season in the Saturday game of the fourth round of the ICE Hockey League. In the local Erste Bank Arena, Vienna’s HC Innsbruck beat 3-0 (0-0, 0-0, 3-0).
The hosts also got off to a better start in the game. Patrick Antal first fails with a slapshot (2nd), then in the breakaway (4th) an Innsbruck goalkeeper Tom McCollum.
In return, Dominic Hackl has to save decisive against Nico Feldner (6th) after Karlsson bad pass. However, the pace of the game then decreases significantly. Both teams incorporate mistakes in their own build-up game, so offensive scenes are in short supply.
The second third is more attractive, but also remains goalless. Niki Hartl (22nd) awards promising positions in double the majority. With the “Haien” Daniel Leavens (26th) puts a sharp wristshot just wide of the gate. Brody Sutter (33.) desperately at McCollum.
The last 20 minutes of the game start with a pressure phase from the capital city, from which no capital can be made for the time being. In the 50th minute, Nicolai Meyer turned out to be a can opener (50th) by deflection after Lukas Piff’s Blueliner.
Just 37 seconds later, Matt Neal rebounded to 2-0 (50./PP). Hartl (52./PP) sets the end of a furious phase with a slapshot.
The Vienna Capitals get their first three points, goalkeeper Stefan Steen celebrates a shutout on his debut. After a 2-1 victory over Black Wings Linz, HC Innsbruck has to cope with a setback again.
