He told about health care when he returned to Lithuania

In recent years, the subject of compulsory health insurance (PSD) has become especially relevant for many people from various countries to consider artificial distance insurance, as well as for all Lithuanian citizens to consider how to return or return to their homeland. The main aspects of it were presented and the questions of the participants were answered by the Vilnius Territorial Health Insurance Fund (ICD) in an online seminar organized by the Migration Information Center “I Choose Lithuania”.

At the invitation of the Center, Viktorija Klinavičienė, Adviser of the Vilnius ICD Population Service Department, returns or returns to consider the deliberations. She explained to the seminar participants how to get PSD in Lithuania and how to receive health care services from the Compulsory Health Insurance Fund (PSDF).

The representative of Vilnius ICD clearly stated what should be sought by the insured for Lithuanian citizens and foreigners. Irrespective of a person’s citizenship, it is necessary to participate in the PSD registration, ie to insure at the expense of the state, to insure on the basis of an employment relationship or to insure independently (to pay monthly PSD contributions to Sodra). He explained in detail what services the citizens of the European Union (EU) and the European Economic Area (EEA) or third countries have to meet.

V. Klinavičienė explained that medical services paid for with PSDF funds can be received not only in Lithuania, but also in other EU and EEA countries. Necessary medical assistance is provided to the holders of the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC), documents S2 indicate the planned services – to the persons who submitted this document, all services as Lithuanian insured – to the persons who submitted documents S1.

Also present how insured persons can receive the necessary health care services, how to register with a primary health care institution (outpatient clinic, family medicine center, etc.), what services can be provided by a family doctor, how to contact medical specialists, what essential conditions you want to receive reimbursable medical services.

Speaking about the most important aspects of the hospital treatment, V. Klinavičienė paid more attention to childbirth, because those coming from abroad are especially interested in this service. Childbirth services are paid for with PSDF funds if the mother is insured in Lithuania or has a document S2 or S1, where possible – ESDK.

At the end, the representative of Vilnius ICD emphasized that in Lithuania there is no need to pay additional PSD for medical services if they apply to medical institutions, enter into contracts with the territorial health insurance fund, and have a doctor’s referral in the above-mentioned medical specialists.

Insured persons may have to pay if they go to a medical institution without a contract with the ICD, go to specialists without a referral, choose additional, paid or more expensive services, materials, procedures, neither reimbursement nor in some cases. An EHIC is required to reimburse essential medical care services located in other EU or EEA countries.

The participants of the seminar were very active. Inquired and received answers to questions regarding the insurance of foreigners studying in Lithuania, the amount of PSD contributions, the beginning of payment and acquisition of insurance, declaration of residence and PSD contribution content documentation S1 or S2, validity of PSD of children of victims, insurance conditions when periodically living it is abroad, it is in Lithuania, as well as opportunities to receive treatment in Lithuania, when you permanently live and work abroad, and how to recover an unreasonable medical institution for the money paid.

Vilnius ICD hopes that the seminars provided participation in the much-needed knowledge about the Lithuanian health system, facilitated the decision-making of those who decided to return to their native personal care to facilitate this step, while still considering their compatriots.
