Brussels residents get acquainted with Helihaven-Antwerp neighborhood contract during neighborhood party
Residents of the Helihaven-Antwerp district in Brussels were able to get acquainted with the plans that the Brussels Region and the city of Brussels have for their living environment during a neighborhood party on Saturday. The program includes all new infrastructure that should improve the daily lives of the inhabitants.
The Helihaven-Antwerp district contract is already the eighteenth district contract of the sSad Brussels. The city council wants to ensure that the city also becomes reality in the Noordwijk within ten minutes, and that all basic infrastructure is close by.
The Region and the city of Brussels together find 26 million euros in the Helihaven-Antwerp neighborhood. With that money, 25 social homes, an eco-crèche, a new community center and the Masui-Antwerpsesteenweg intersection will be made more traffic-safe. The residents can take a first look at the plans during the neighborhood party on Saturday. A public inquiry will be held during the month of October.
“Today we are proud to present a program that will transform this neighborhood into a place with a better quality of life, more space for residents to meet each other, and more social cohesion,” says Arnaud Pinxteren (Ecolo) Brussels Alderman for Urban Renewal.
The zone of the neighborhood contract is proposed around the towers with social housing of the Antwerpsesteenweg. The area is bounded in the south by the Bolivarlaan, in the east by the border with the municipality of Schaarbeek and the Zenne Park, in the north by the Sluismeester Coggestraat and in the west by the Groendreef.
