Australia dominate Argentina in Rugby Championship
After two inaugural defeats against New Zealand, Australia recovered well in South Africa twice and confirmed this Saturday in Townsville during the 5th day of the Rugby Championship, dominating Argentina (27 -8).
Australia quickly broke away early in the game, concluded by Samu Kerevi, sharp, present on the first try of his own, well concluded by the back Reece Hodge (7-0, 5th). Faced with Argentines too clumsy to be worrying, the Australians widened the gap, again thanks to Kerevi, who flattened after a nice low ball distilled by the opener Quade Cooper (18th).
Boffelli’s failed kicking game
Upon returning from the locker room, the Pumas sounded the revolt and quickly returned to the match with a carried ball, rewarded with a try from captain Julian Montoya (43rd). Dominant in the second act, Argentina paid for its lack of discipline, sanctioned by two first reversed penalties and a yellow card for dangerous play in the third row Marcos Kremer (56th). Mario Ledesma’s men can also regret the points left on the way, the fault of a faulty foot game from Emilianio Boffelli, with two missed penalties (4th, 53rd) and a transformation pushed back by the post (45th).
Taking advantage of a better success at the foot and the fatigue of their opponents, the Australians flew away at the end of the match, with a try from Kellaway (27-8, 70th), without however managing to win the offensive bonus point. Australians and Argentines will meet next Saturday (9:05 am) in Gold Coast for the sixth and final day.
