Russia will sell the last built frigate of Project 11356 to a foreign customer, said in an interview RIA News General Director of the United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC) Alexey Rakhmanov.
“The ships of this project have shown themselves in real work, and foreign customers are showing a serious interest in them. I am sure that we will come to an agreement with them on the fate of the frigate, ”said the head.
How reminds “Rossiyskaya Gazeta”, initially it was planned to build six frigates of Project 11356 for the Russian Black Sea Fleet, the construction of which “had to be suspended due to broken ties with Ukraine, from where the power plants came from”. As a result, the Russian fleet received only three such ships.
In September, Ukroboronprom announced that the Ukrainian state-owned enterprise Zorya – Mashproekt had signed a contract with the Indian company Goa Shipyard for the supply of two М7Н2 engines. It is planned to equip multipurpose ships of Project 11356 of the Talwar type, which are designed in Russia, but are being built by India, with gas turbine installations.
In 2017, Igor Ponomarev, vice president of USC for military shipbuilding, said that two Project 11356 frigates, previously ordered by the Ministry of Defense, will be sold to the Indian Navy.
