Extensions of “Covid terraces” will be extended to Toulouse. The device which authorizes restaurants to extend into the public domain, which was to stop on September 30, will be perpetuated until March 31, 2022.
In City Council, at the end of January 2021, the City had already voted for an extension, until September 30.
As a reminder, this device, which aims to help restaurants and bars during the health – and economic – crisis of covid, makes it possible to maintain reception capacity while ensuring that the minimum distances between tables and between table chairs are respected. different.
“These six additional months will make it possible to refine the assessment which will be carried out when it is issued. The extension of the Covid terrace extensions will be billed at the current rate, ie 30% in addition to the rate for conventional terraces, ”indicates the City of Toulouse.
526 establishments took advantage
446 restaurants had taken advantage of it in 2020. They were 526 when the terraces reopened last June, after confinement started in March 2021.
Covid terraces cannot be heated
The town hall specifies:
“Establishments that have had their“ Covid ”authorization withdrawn cannot request its renewal. On the other hand, on these terraces, outdoor heaters will not be authorized ”.
In recent days, the mayor of Toulouse had declared himself in favor of extending the device. He declared:
“In principle, I am in favor. But we will verify that certain conditions are met: on the one hand, that this does not prevent people in difficulty from traveling. On the other hand, that there is no nuisance around each of the authorized terraces, and if there is any, the device will not be renewed. I have a favorable eye on it, but not to the detriment of Toulouse residents ”.
