Until October 17, Toulouse is transformed into a gigantic gallery of contemporary art. For a month, the Le Printemps de Septembre festival takes place in the pink city. An event that offers many exhibitions in various places of the city and this year will present its 30 years.
“On the ashes of the hacienda”: this is the theme of this anniversary edition of Spring in September. For 30 years, this festival dedicated to contemporary art has invaded the streets of Toulouse to showcase today’s artistic creation. This year again the bet will be taken up with some fifty artists exhibited in 28 places.
Christian Bernard, artistic director of the festival explains in his editorial: “As always, our main object remains the exhibition, its forms and formats, its capacity to suddenly transport us. Some, very young, will present the beginnings of their work while others, deceased, sometimes in 2020/2021, will see their memory. Art cannot live without memory; it’s a tight flow: artists pass the baton to each other over time. Some that have come out of radar screens deserve to be re-illuminated. History must erase its blindness. Each era takes a fresh look at the past which revives and revives abandoned works. A festival as also want to help treat our friends. “
On the occasion of this anniversary, a book borders on some of the questions that have nourished the Spring of September for the past 30 years.
