The reigning Swiss champions and 2021 World Cup bronze medal winners from Geneva will qualify for the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing.
the essentials in brief
- The Geneva team qualified for the 2022 Olympics.
- The quartet won the final at the trials in Biel with 4-0 victories.
- It will be the second Olympic Games for Skip Peter de Cruz Co.
Valentin Tanner, Peter de Cruz (Skip), Sven Michel and Benoît Schwarz made it and mastered the big goal – the Olympic qualification – with ease.
De Cruz and his teammates from CC Trois-Chêne Genève remained flawless at the Swisscurling Olympia Trials, which were held in Biel from September 22nd to September 24th, 2021.
They defeat Yannick Schwaller’s team with 4-0 victories in the best-of-seven series. Although the end result seems very clear, the games turned out to be fiercely competitive, with dying tipping to either side.
Swisscurling has registered the Geneva quartet together with the mixed doubles team (Perret / Rios) and the women’s team (Tirinzoni) at Swiss Olympic.
The official selection will be made by Swiss Olympic in the coming days. For Geneva, it will be the second Olympic Games after Pyeongchang in 2018.
