Swedish Microsoft gets a new CEO – and moves to the city
It’s moving at Swedish Microsoft. Sweden’s CEO Joacim Damgard is promoted to the top of the organization and is now given the title of vice president of sales, marketing & operations for Central and Eastern Europe, which is a region that contains 33 countries. He will begin his new assignment on October 1.

This means that the Swedish CEO chair will be empty, but Microsoft has no plans to abandon models with a local CEO in place, but the recruitment for Joacim Damgard’s replacement has begun.
– Our head of marketing & operations, Therése Treutiger, joins as Deputy CEO. The recruitment of a replacement is in full swing, says communications manager Johanna Snickars.
What can you do after the replacement?
– I am not involved in the recruitment, so it is difficult to answer.
An even bigger change for Swedish Microsoft than the upcoming change of CEO is that the company will leave its classic premises in Akalla after almost 30 years. Instead, Microsoft will move into the new Urban Escape district, which is currently being fully built in the middle of Stockholm city. Microsoft shows that the new 3,000 square meter office space will accommodate all 600 employees.
An agreement has been signed with AMF Fastigheter for the office located in the newly built property at Regeringsgatan / Hamngatan. The property will also house companies such as Kindred, EQT, Nordic Tech House, Wework and Netlight.

– It feels incredibly fun that after 28 years in the same office space, it’s time for Microsoft to change its work environment. The choice fell on Urban Escape because it fits Microsoft’s view of the intelligent workplace where people, technology and the environment are in symbiosis. Over the years, we have had over 100,000 visitors at our open screenings at the office and we hope that many also want to visit our new office where we can see that we create Sweden’s attractive workplaces, says Joacim Damgard about the upcoming move which is scheduled for September 2019 .
