Faced with the promoted Nancy, tonight, the Toulouse will seek priority to garner their first victory in the league. Indispensable for the sequel with serenity.
After two days of the championship, the Fenix Toulouse is the last one in the Starligue and if it is obviously anecdotal at this stage of the competition, let’s say that it can not really please either. Surprised for the opening of the ball against Chambéry, a fortnight ago at home (27-30), then crushed in Paris last Sunday (28-43), the Toulousans are already obliged to react to a promoted as badly off as them. “Nancy is a very important match because we have to open the scoring in the league,” continues Danijel Andjelkovic. Faced with a team that is discovering the elite for the first time in its history, the Fenix ”has no choice”, confirms Rémi Calvel, his deputy. “Without offending them, it is a team that we have to beat at home”, adds the former fullback of the Toulouse team.
To give themselves the means, the two technicians spent a lot of time in front of the video to better understand a workforce made up of players unaccustomed to the Starligue. “They do a lot of rotations, have several engages and play a fairly attractive game,” explains Rémi Calvel. For Fenix, the objective will be to keep the same defensive intensity as against Malmö on Tuesday (30-24), an area where Pierrick Chelle’s teammates had largely fished during the first two days.
Abdi should still be spared …
“We have to get back in the standings to be in our objectives and be able to look upwards when we have passed the traffic jams on the calendar,” projected Calvel, whose players will play their third game in six days. Knowing that there will be five more until October 14, and the reception of Nantes, the Toulouse workforce as a whole should be largely concerned during these three weeks. Touched in the foot, the Algerian international Ayoub Abdi was infiltrated on Monday and “is getting better and better” announces Rémi Calvel. Given the upcoming deadlines, however, no risk will be taken with the right-back: against Nancy, his teammates will no doubt have to manage without him to take their first points.
