There is a climate crisis. Rebel! Fridays for Future and Extinction Rebellion in Budapest and several major cities around the world are announcing the event on Facebook.
The movement in the capital started at 4.30 pm from the Opera, from where users walked to Kossuth Square, where Valéria Kovács (Fridays for Future Budapest), Jutka Bari (We belong here Association), or biologist Ferenc Jordán, actress Dorottya Udvaros, ambassador Greenpeace, gave a speech. Afterwards, those who appeared held a large Die-int, known as a death, and protest is a form of lying on the ground en masse and pretending to be dead. The event ended with a half-hour concert by Kornél Esti.
Organizers write on their social media page that there were a number of reasons for their march, such as protesting because during the quarantine period, democratic principles and rights were eroded everywhere, with MEPs deciding on major destructive investments without consulting or at will. It is also cited as a reason for the need for radical and systemic change, which takes into account the latest scientific findings, the complex system of nature and biodiversity, and takes up the fight against economic, social and political oppression of vulnerable groups.
