Horta Soares from the Liberal Initiative promises to trouble Lisbon
“TAll other parties may pretend to believe in the future, but they are parties from the past. What they want is to go back to 2019, they want to continue governing as they have been doing so far, but there will be one councilor among the 17 councilors who will annoy them and that’s the one from IL”, said Bruno Horta Soares at the end of the campaign for the municipal advantages of Sunday.
In front of about 50 supporters, in the garden of Largo de Santos, and alongside the party’s president, João Cotrim de Figueiredo, the candidate said that “nothing ends today” and expressed his conviction that “it is the beginning of what will happen. the next four years of IL at Lisbon City Council [CML]”
“During this campaign I often remembered those messages from Eça de Queiroz… It is often difficult for us to think differently. Many times I was afraid to say in debates as different things that we thought. But Eça de Queiroz said that we shouldn’t. to be afraid to think differently, we must be afraid to think alike and discover that it corrects everyone wrong, “he stated.
Horta Soares argued that IL was the only party to defend “the real fiscal shock in Lisbon” and that it is necessary “to trust companies again, lowering the Spill to 0%”.
“We were the only ones who said this wasn’t just any election, it was the election after how people have suffered over the year and a half [de pandemia] social losses, economic losses, and we said we’re going to give people back more IRS. […] We were the only ones who defended what nobody talked about in this campaign, that there is a bureaucratic monster in the CML”, he added.
He considers that there is “a Lisbon that does not trust the chamber”, the liberal candidate insisted on the idea that an autarchy should have a more social function and develop partnerships with private entities in the operationalization of services.
“We are the only ones who said there is no free transport, we are the only ones who said there is no free housing, what exists is the need for CML to support those who need it most, what exists is the need for CML to leave freedom of choice to work, what exists is that we do not want the CML to be the landlord of its voters. We do not want them to choose for us, whenever a politician says he is offering something free he is choosing for us”, stressed Horta Soares.
Criticizing, in line with the party, the existence of the day of reflection (Saturday), Horta Soares highlighted the importance of going to the polls on Sunday: “it is the day when everyone has time to vote, so that at that time no one else chooses for us. “
On the other hand, the president of IL, Cotrim de Figueiredo, revealed that he was sure of the election of Horta Soares and other mayors across the country, stating that “it was a proportion of the reduction in taxes, whether in terms of the return of IRS or the abolition of spills. municipal authorities or IMI”.
The head of the list for a municipal assembly, Miguel Ferreira da Silva, defended, in turn, that “Lisbon has not had a municipal council for too many years, Lisbon has been a more centralized city for too many years, for too many years the distance between Terreiro do Paço and Praça do Município is very confusing.”
In addition to Bruno Horta Soares, the current president, Fernando Medina (PS / Livre coalition), Carlos Moedas (PSD / CDS-PP / PPM / MPT / Aliança), Beatriz Gomes Dias (BE), João Ferreira, are running for the Lisbon Chamber. (CDU), Nuno Graciano (Enough), Manuela Gonzaga (PAN), Tiago Matos Gomes (Volt), João Patrocínio (Ergue-te), Bruno Fialho (PDR), Sofia Afonso Ferreira (We, Citizens!) And Ossanda Líber ( We are All Lisbon movement).
