Three times stronger and three times more efficient raw material consumption. The innovator behind the revolutionary click floor has done it again. Now the company Bjelin is investing in a new type of hardened wood floor that is predicted to change the flooring industry.
The flooring company Bjelin has a cocky but simple vision. They want to become a world leader in flooring and spread their innovative technology for making hardwood floors. Together with the sister company Välinge Innovation, which in the 90s invented the world’s first click floor, which revolutionized the flooring industry, Bjelin develops and manufactures a product portfolio that sets the tone for the industry’s future.
– When our founders presented the click floor technology to the big manufacturers, they were met with great skepticism. The manufacturers were reluctant to abandon the then gluing technology, but now this way of assembling floors is generally accepted, says Johan Larsson, sales and marketing director at Bjelin Sweden AB and continues:
– Now we are facing a completely new revolution in the flooring industry – our technology Woodura which hardens wood and makes it stronger. This time we have built the world’s most modern floor factory near the head office in Viken to actually develop our products.
Hardened wood floors have many advantages Compared to wooden floors that we already know about. It is stronger and harder than a traditional parquet floor, and at the same time lives up to the same level of appearance and genuine feeling. In the production of traditional parquet floors, only one third of the oak is used, but Bjelin makes sure to use its raw materials optimally and consumes the entire tree. The material that cannot be used for the floor surface layer acts as a filling material to maintain durability.
– When it comes to durability, our hardened wood floors are unbeatable, both in terms of floor life and environmental durability, says Johan Larsson.
Bjelin also manufactures traditional parquet floors to meet the remaining demand. But even here Bjelin is offered to go his own way. To share its heavy transports, the company has set up its own factories in Croatia where the possibilities for oak are great. Then they do not have to import materials from a number of different countries as competitors.
But the future lies in the new Woodura technology, says Johan Larsson. He now hopes to see a revolution among conscious consumers who discover distributions with a hardened wood floor. And Bjelin’s own journey has only just begun.
– Our goal is simple. We want to be a flooring company that thinks completely differently and constantly improves the flooring industry through smart innovations that are really sustainable, says Johan Larsson.
