Nearly 200 people gathered in Plobsheim, about twenty kilometers from Strasbourg, on Friday September 17, at the call of the collective “The cauldron of alternatives“, as part of the 4th wave of actions for”act against the re-intoxication of the world”.
They are protesting against the proposed establishment of MackNeXT, a multimedia subsidiary project led by the Mack family (already owner of the amusement park Europa Park), on some 3 hectares of land.
As of now validated by the municipality of Plobsheim, and the Euro-metropolis of Strasbourg, the decision has to be taken incomprehension of alteractivists, sending elected officials, including environmentalists in particular, to a manifest lack of political courage.
It is that upon their arrival at the helm of the municipality and the agglomeration in 2020, the elected ecologists declared Strasbourg and its Euro-metropolis in “State of Climate Emergency“, and announces that it wants to make Strasbourg ” the European capital of ecological, social and democratic transition “.
The researchers thus see a boulevard opening up in front of the Mack family in Alsace, in order to develop its activities. In addition to the realization of the project Macknext in Plobsheim in a wetland of dried, and dedicated to immersive entertainment, in the field of virtual reality and 3D animation, the promoter also wishes to set up its French head office nearEuropa-Park.
The implantation area was initially non-constructible. The creation of an activity park in areas identified as sensitive natural spaces and sites to be preserved and protected would therefore be authorized.. The influence of the project will be on agricultural land partially cultivated in “organic”, and classified natural land.
The collective is directly opposed to this project because it threatens to destroy biodiversity.
This threatens to take away wetlands essential to natural balances, local food crops, forcing 4 farmers to abandon their land. It also threatens an ecological corridor dedicated to the movement of characteristic species, including bats, and 18 species of birds.
He recalls that alternative solutions do exist.
In particular, a nearby and available location, already dedicated to cutting-edge economic activities, at the Illkirch Innovation Park, which makes it possible to avoid new consumption of natural and agricultural land.
He denounces what he describes as “whims of wealth entrepreneurs”The choices made by Mack:
According to the German entrepreneur, “The site must offer a natural and peaceful environment to promote creativity and find yourself in a” bubble “in optimal working conditions”. Without omitting than “The Plobsheim site in the immediate vicinity of the Kempferhof golf course, which shares a European reputation, meets all the criteria desired by the managers” … or even … “It will be a creative center for all. With golf, it’s calmer, more inspiring and creative ”.
He recalls that the German neighbors of Baden Württemberg no longer concede spaces to be artificialized to the Mack International group.
Finally, he is worried that the development prospects of entrepreneurs from across the Rhine aim to establish in the medium term a “Europa Valley”, a vast hotel complex project whose influence this time would be 150 to 250 hectares on non-artificial land between the municipalities of Sundhouse and Diebolsheim.
The idea of a cable car crossing the Rhine to reach Europa Park also accompanies the first studies.
The demonstrators evoke a penknife exerted by the ecological majority of the Euro-metropolis against the confidence of the voters who supported it during the last municipal campaign, and chose to vote against the economic models of predation of our spaces of life and well-being.
The event ended with speeches evoking the context and the progress of the event, by Eloi Navarro, Pascal Lacombe and Yeliz Gencer.
Finally, Dominique Roth, clinical psychologist, psychoanalyst and writer, author of a book entitled ”Commentary elites challenge reality” came to give a speech, which we can find the text here.
The demonstrators then headed for the establishment site, depositing here and there: “permits to destroy” to make a mockery of the building permits issued by elected officials.
You will find them below in the photographic gallery proposed by Martin Wilhelm.
Finally, our collaborator Jean-Jacques Greiner captured the declarations before and after the event:
