Comeback: Strong sign of life in the Tyrolean film and music scene
INNSBRUCK. After a long time without face-to-face events, the first symposium for the Tyrolean film and music industry took place again on September 20, 2021 in the Haus der Musik. The creative scene is ready to take up again and more motivated than ever.
The industry has shown a great deal of entrepreneurial courage and commitment in recent months. Tyrol’s creatives set new impulses through their ingenuity, give rise to fresh ideas and promote the spirit of invention. With keynote speeches and panel discussions – among others with Georg Tomandl (Chairman of the Music Fund Austria), Roland Teichmann (Director Austrian Film Institute), Sabine Moser (Producer Freibeuter Film) and Alexander Dumreicher-Ivanceanu (Chairman of the Film and Music Industry Association in the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber) – On the first “Day of the Film and Music Industry” it was shown where the dying scene is and what will be needed for economic security in the future.
Profit for everyone
Work is going on on important topics like the “Tyrol location initiative”, the insufficient event space for artists or the security of the Austrian Music Fund. The first industry day of the Tyrolean film and music scene ended with a show set from Tyrolean musician Baiba.
“I am very happy that the first day of the film and music industry was so well received here. On the one hand, because such get-togethers are always beneficial for each individual – be it to take new professional input with them or to strengthen their personal network. We represent important branches of the economy and our two branches have added value and jobs deserve attention “
, is glad Bernhard Holzhammer, chairman of the film and music industry representative in the Tyrolean Chamber of Commerce.
Advocacy
The professional representation of the film and music industry in the Tyrolean Chamber of Commerce represents over 400 members in Tyrol. The focus is on strengthening Austria as a creative and production location and on ensuring balanced and contractually secure framework conditions.
“A lot is done in Tyrol for the interests of film and music makers. It’s probably a big concern as well. We’re grossly underestimated. Therefore, a catalog of demands was put together, which is easy to argue in politics and hopefully also implementable “
so Mallet. For example, a study commissioned by the professional association was able to show very clearly that all economic effects were calculated too conservatively in the past.
Film location Tyrol
“Through the ‘Initiative Film Tirol’ we die also drew attention to the great opportunities that die could be seized by increasing and realigning film funding.”
explains the Chairman of the filmmakers. Because the Corona crisis in particular has shown that moving images are a central component of the increasingly strong digital future. An expanding film industry would have many positive side effects:
“For example, with the establishment of a corresponding film fund including film commission and location development in North Tyrol, the current step could be taken in order to be able to cooperate supraregionally in the exemplary area of film.”
Goals for the Film location Tyrol There are many and new, highly qualified jobs, stronger links between the Tyrolean film industry and the European region, as well as the creation of added cultural value.
Flexibility war in demand
The music sector has also had to accept a lot of flexibility and losses in the last year and a half.
“With the elimination of live events, the music sector is in a very precarious situation. It is still important at the federal level to secure or further expand the Austrian music fund (measured at just over a million euros). Furthermore, attempts have been made for years to increase the proportion of Austrian music on the radio and to make it visible to the public “
, explained Mallet.
