the Cité de l’Espace welcomes its 7,000,000th visitor

24 years after its creation, the Cité de l’Espace in Toulouse has just passed the milestone of seven million visitors. The lucky winner is an engineering student from INSA Toulouse. She will have the privilege of visiting the City in the company of Claudie Haigneré, the first French astronaut.

This is called a VIP or … five star tour. Tessa, a student at the INSA Toulouse engineering school, is entitled this Thursday, September 23, 2021 to a visit to the Cité de l’Espace in the company of Claudie Haigneré, the first French woman astronaut, whose 25th anniversary is being celebrated this year. flight in space. A privilege offered to Tessa who is the 7 millionth visitor to the Cité de l’Espace.

A record of attendance this summer

Inaugurated in 1997, the Cité de l’Espace de Toulouse has become one of the most visited tourist sites in the Occitanie region with an average of 400,000 visitors each year. This year, despite the uncertainties and restrictions linked to covid, it recorded a record summer attendance with 119,312 visitors in July and August (+ 5% compared to 2019 which was already a record year). A good result which can be explained by the increase in Franco-French tourism during the summer of 2021.

The high attendance recorded this summer symbolizes the resumption of tourism in France after the health crisis. We note a new attraction of the French for national destinations such as Toulouse.
