Hanover (dpa) – Before the corona vaccination centers in Lower Saxony are closed in the coming week, the nation’s largest vaccination center will take stock. The city and the Hanover region’s common vaccination center on the exhibition grounds will cease operations on September 27 after around eight months, the city has announced. Today, Region President Hauke Jagau (SPD) and Hanover’s Lord Mayor Belit Onay (Greens) want to comment on the work of the center and the closure. In Lower Saxony, all 50 vaccination centers are to close by September 30th. Afterwards, vaccinations should be carried out by mobile teams or in medical practices.
Dismantling has already begun in many places. The equipment of eight vaccination centers in Lower Saxony is to be stored in the event of a possible reactivation, the new head of the Corona crisis team, Claudia Schröder, announced at the end of August. Until 50 vaccination centers are closed, second vaccinations should still be offered there based on information. The centers started their work in February.
