The Republic of San Marino celebrates the European Heritage Days (25-26 September 2021) and the World Tourism Day (27 September 2021)
The “European Heritage Days” will be celebrated next 25 and 26 September, the world days of the European Heritage of the Council of Europe have developed this year on the theme “Cultural Heritage: ALL included”. On the following day, September 27, the UNWTO World Tourism Day will be celebrated on the theme “Tourism for inclusive growth”. For both recurrences we intend to recall the themes of inclusion and accessibility as envisaged in the objectives of the UN Agenda 2030 on sustainable development which see tourism implicitly or indirectly referred to in objectives 1 (no poverty), 5 ( gender equality 8 (decent work and economic growth), 10 (reducing inequalities) AND 11 (making cities and settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable). Over the past 2 years, the COVID-19 pandemic has had a enormous social and economic impact. Both developed and developing economies have been affected by limiting or even preventing social relations and the experiences of training and growth of people. The restart of tourism can help to relaunch economic recovery and growth It is essential that the resulting benefits are accessible in order to be widely and equally enjoyed in an inclusive manner for all. O, the United Nations agency for responsible and sustainable tourism, is committed to leading the global sector towards inclusive recovery and growth with the aim of ensuring that every part of the sector, including communities, minorities, young people and those who would otherwise risk being left behind, can participate in defining their own future and reap the benefits. In this perspective, the places of culture, as an expression of the history and experience of people, are fundamental for the knowledge of the past, for reflection on current events, for inspiration for the future. Particular significance therefore are the initiatives that the Republic of San Marino, with the celebration of the European Heritage Days and the World Day of Tourism in the themes of accessibility and inclusion, has intended in sharing with communities, associations and cultural depositories, traditions, knowledge and solidarity.
