SCO Dijon: “A very nice challenge” for Paul Herman – News
Paul Herman will take on new functions. After the departure of Denis Repérant (read here), he will become general manager of SCO Dijon-Team Materiel-velo.com. “I am in a situation which is not obvious to me. It really is a challenge. I have great respect for everything Denis has done. I want to do him honor by continuing what he has already done so far and doing at least as well. Denis remains and will always remain an important person at the club. It is not in the idea of taking his place “, he declares to DirectBike.
Responsible for the Dijon branch of the Pôle Espoirs de Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, the 31-year-old Northerner will be leaving his post at the beginning of November. “Personally, it’s a great challenge. It allows me to switch to other skills and fields that I have not yet explored. Until now, I have dealt almost exclusively with training. I want to wear the colors of the club in the broad sense and not just the N1 “.
“BRING NEW”
Even if he wants to be part of the continuity, the former member of ESEG Douai intends to change things. “I want to adjust certain parameters with budget management, recruitment, course planning and different stages. I want to bring something new ”. Regarding the calendar, he wants the N1 club to take more part in the Espoirs events. “We are not going to prevent ourselves from going to Spain, Italy or Luxembourg. I would also like to go to Class 2 races where we are not yet present such as the Circuit des Ardennes, the Kreiz Breizh Elites or the Tour Alsace. Finally, I would like us to go to the Tour de Guadeloupe where I already have contacts “.
In relation to the schedule of races, Paul Herman wants to establish three months in advance “to enroll in a training project and not tell runners from Monday to Sunday”. Finally, he intends to change the theme of the integration internship “By taking them to do unusual things”. Its philosophy is to focus on young people. “We will have 10 Hopes and 5 non Hopes if all goes well. We also need guys with experience to guide them. They are an integral part of the puzzle, I cannot do without them ”.
“TRYING TO RECONCILE THE TWO”
The SCO Dijon-Team Materiel-velo.com has for the moment unveiled five of its six recruits, three Juniors, a Hope 1 and a Hope 2 (see here). “It was Mathieu (Gallet, the sports director) who took the steps. I started to take control for two or three weeks to finalize recruitments “. He intends to recruit two more elements. “A non-Hope and a wild card. With the first, I have advanced contacts. It will position itself at the opening of transfers at the beginning of October. Depending on whether he joins us or not, we will adjust the workforce with a Hope or a former “.
In parallel, Paul Herman takes care of the training of eight to nine riders of the Burgundian workforce. “After discussion with the guys, we assumed that we were going to try to reconcile the two, even if the priority remains to take up my duties as manager. Going with them every weekend can help. You have to fix the frame. If that doesn’t work, I won’t have to worry about handing it over to someone else ”.
