Dancing after forty years. I returned to the hall at the Wreath of niece Olinka
I spent my dance in the Adalbertina Hall in Hradec Králové, with my high school classmates, sometime in the early 1960s. The experience of them is not unforgettable. I had it just a short distance from home, and I remember how, in the hallway of our house, after returning from each lesson, my classmate František and I repeated the steps of the dances we had learned that evening. Our classmate always slept with us after dancing. He was from a village somewhere near Pardubice, so he would have to come home with him. There was no transport for him to move home. Our classmates went to the dances a year earlier than we boys. They were our counselors and they came to treat us for Prodloužená and Věneček. They praised our progress and encouraged us to be good dancers, which flattered us.
After 40 years, I returned to the same hall at the Wreath of my niece Olinka. I was glad it was still the same there. Holiday feelings, strong excitement at the memory of what I once experienced here. I was only here as a photographer and an escort of my sister’s family, but I was still a little younger. I breathed again the wonderful atmosphere of excitement and youth that I have not forgotten over the years and I will certainly not forget for the rest of my life.
