Apple allows users to add a Covid vaccination card to Wallet

American technology giant Apple is ready to bring the COVID-19 vaccination cards under review to Wallet as part of an upcoming iPhone software update.

According to TechCrunch, the latest feature utilizes the international SMART Health Cards standard (already in use in several states) to prove vaccination, sign it with a private key, and create a public key to verify your information.

In addition, with the newly released iOS 15, users can already save verifiable vaccinations and test results to Health using the same standard. Individuals get their records through QR codes, downloads, or health care providers that access health information on the iPhone.

The company has also promised strict user privacy. Apple would not have access to imported or shared user data, and users have also been told that all data must be encrypted and stored securely when transferred elsewhere.

Apple also does not see vaccination cards or how users have used them. However, the company has not disclosed when it will release the card update.
