Antwerp opens first ‘local vaccination point’ for those who have not yet received a first shot | Antwerp
AntwerpIn the Sint-Erasmus hospital in Borgerhout, the first of a series of based vaccination points has been started that replace the vaccination village on Spoor Oost. Until the closure on September 30, only closed vaccinations with the Johnson & Johnson vaccine will be given at Spoor Oost and the second and third vaccinations will be completed.
Residents from Antwerp, Borsbeek, Wommel, Stabroek or Schoten can visit the local vaccination points if they are older than 12 years and do not have a first shot with a corona vaccine. In Sint-Erasmus this is possible every Wednesday afternoon. A second vaccination point will open in the Stuivenberg Hospital next week, the other locations will be communicated later.
In addition, vaccination moments are still organized in neighborhoods for the “most vulnerable” residents of Antwerp, Borsbeek, Wommelgem, Stabroek and Schoten, without an appointment. This will happen in the districts of Kiel, Luchtbal and Linkeroever.
“The closure of the vaccination village VacCovid is not the end of the Antwerp vaccination story,” says Els van Doesburg (N-VA), Antwerp’s alderman for health care. “We will continue to offer a vaccine to people who have waited or don’t get the chance. Hence a warm appeal for those who are distracted: don’t miss the opportunity to protect yourself and the people around you.”
